I am currently working as part of the dev team on Q.U.B.E. 2, the follow up to the 2011 award-winning indie game Q.U.B.E, which was developed by Toxic Games.
Q.U.B.E. 2 is a first-person physics based puzzle game where players guide their avatar through a series of physics based puzzles and is being developed using the Unreal 4 engine. Q.U.B.E. 2 refines the core mechanics of the original game with new puzzles and a tightly woven narrative that expands on the Q.U.B.E. universe and provides players with a deeper and more immersive gameplay experience.
My duties on the project include the creation and implementation of all audio assets for the game, excluding the music creation which is being handled by the award winning and BAFTA nominated composer David Housden (Thomas Was Alone, Volume, Monstermind). The game has a distinct sci-fi aesthetic and so I am utilising a combination of abstract real world recordings and synthetic sounds in order to help bring the world to life.
The video above is a recent hands on demo with Engadget at GDC 2017 which shows some gameplay and briefly demonstrates off some of the new gameplay mechanics. For more information and updates, please visit the Toxic Games website at www.toxicgames.co.uk.
